Set up Wispr Flow so you can talk your prompts instead of typing them and give AI the context it needs.
Key takeaways
- Most people talk faster than they type, and they say more. More context means better answers.
- Don't worry about spelling or grammar. Just check names and numbers before you send.
- Add names and business words to the Dictionary so they're spelled right every time.
Do this now: Talk (don't type) your next three prompts.

🎙️ Why Wispr Flow
All through A2A, you'll see our team talking to AI instead of typing. Here's how we do it.
Most people talk much faster than they type.
When you talk, you also say more. You give AI the background, the details and the "here's what I actually need." That context is what gets you better answers.
Wispr Flow turns your voice into clean text in any app: Claude, email, Slack, docs.
🛠️ Set it up (about 5 minutes)
- Download Wispr Flow using the link at the top of this page. The free plan is all you need to start.
- Sign in and complete the microphone test.
- Allow the permissions it asks for. On a Mac, that's Microphone and Accessibility.
- Complete the shortcut tutorial. Write down your dictation shortcut.
- Using business info? Open Data & Privacy and turn off Improve the model for everyone. Privacy settings
Works on macOS 12 or later, and Windows 10 or 11 (not Windows ARM). There's also an iPhone app that many people prefer to built-in iPhone dictation. System requirements
🎯 Try it: talk your first prompt
- Open Claude and click inside the message box.
- Hold your dictation shortcut. (Common defaults: Fn on a Mac keyboard, Ctrl + Windows on Windows.)
- Say this out loud, filling in your own details:
Act as [the role you need]. Here's my context: I run [your business], and every week I [a task you repeat]. Please help me [what you want]. Before you start, ask me any questions you need. - Let go of the shortcut. Don't worry about perfect spelling or grammar, because AI reads messy text just fine. Just check names and numbers before you send.
- Send it. When Claude asks its questions, answer them by talking too.
🧭 That prompt follows Role, Context, Request, Question, the same structure from Building Great Prompts.
💡 Tips that make it click
- Brain-dump, don't polish. Talk the way you'd explain it to a coworker.
- Speak in full thoughts. Pause between ideas.
- Use it for feedback, not just prompts. When an answer misses, say what's wrong and what you want instead. Talking makes it easy to give AI the detail it needs.
- Teach it your words. Add names, business names and acronyms to the Dictionary so Wispr spells them right every time.
- Skip it for one or two words. Typing is faster there. Wispr shines when you're thinking out loud.
- Granola for meetings, Wispr Flow for everything else.
🔧 If nothing appears
- Check that Wispr Flow is running and your cursor is in a text box.
- Check that the right microphone is selected and your shortcut matches Settings.
- On a Mac, check System Settings → Privacy & Security for Microphone and Accessibility.
- Using a company laptop? You may need IT to approve it.
- Setup troubleshooting
