The AIEB | Which Platform Do I Use?
On this page
Picking the right tool for the job matters more than knowing every tool out there.
Our business runs on Claude and ChatGPT. We use them every day, for almost everything. For small, individual tasks, we also use personal AI assistants like Muse and GrokBot.
If you're just starting, get the $20 a month plan of both. Only move up when you keep running into usage limits.
🔄 The best tool changes every week
The companies behind these tools release something new almost every week. The tool that's best today might not be the best next month.
So don't wait for a perfect answer. The best way to find out what works for you is to try it. Give the same task to Claude and ChatGPT, and see which result you like better.
Then treat it like a new team member. Give it a real task, check the work and tell it what to fix. As Ethan Mollick of One Useful Thing puts it, working with these tools is now "more like managing than chatting" (his guide).
🎯 What we use each one for
- Claude is our main tool. We use it for writing, planning, strategy, finance and HR work, and for building our AI employees.
- ChatGPT is our go-to for images and Instagram carousels. OpenAI's new Astra model is very good, so we're using ChatGPT for more and more of our everyday work too.
- Personal assistants like Muse and GrokBot handle small jobs for one person, like watching Facebook Marketplace for a deal. We never put financials or client data into them.
🟠 Claude
Claude is an AI assistant made by Anthropic.
You can ask it a quick question, or hand it a whole job, like "turn this sales call transcript into a proposal." For bigger jobs, it works through the steps on its own, checks with you before anything important and hands back the finished work.

🟢 ChatGPT

🤖 Personal AI assistants: Muse and GrokBot
These are newer AI assistants that can take actions for you, like browsing the web or watching for deals. Muse is Meta's AI assistant, and GrokBot is built on Grok, the AI from Elon Musk's company xAI.
We use them, and we're watching them closely. They're great for small, low-risk jobs, like having Muse watch Facebook Marketplace for a grill under $400.
But they're very new, and their security isn't proven yet. We don't run our business on them, and we never put financials or client data into them.
💻 Desktop app or website?
Both work, and they use the same account. Your chats, projects and skills show up in both.
- The website (claude.ai or chatgpt.com) needs nothing installed. It's great for quick questions and tasks.
- The desktop app is our pick for daily work. It stays open next to your other windows, and it's the only way the AI can work with files on your computer or use your browser for you. Download Claude for desktop or get the ChatGPT app from chatgpt.com.
- The phone app is perfect for talking to the AI by voice and quick questions on the go.
If you're not sure, install the desktop app and use it as your home base.
🧑💻 For advanced users: Claude Code and Codex
Nothing in this section is required. Claude Code (from Anthropic) and Codex (from OpenAI) are built for large, complex jobs, and they're made with more technically minded people in mind.
They're worth a look once you want the AI to take on something big, like working through hundreds of files at once or building an internal tool for your team.
- Claude Code comes with Claude Pro and higher.
- Codex comes with ChatGPT Plus and higher.
🔒 Privacy basics
On personal plans, both tools may use your chats to improve their AI unless you turn that off. It takes less than a minute:
- Claude: Settings, then Privacy, then turn off "Help improve our AI models" (how to change it).
- ChatGPT: Settings, then Data controls, then turn off "Improve the model for everyone" (how to change it).
Team and business plans don't train on your data by default. If you work with health data, Claude only supports HIPAA on its Enterprise plan (details).
