⭐ About This Clip
Callan Faulkner opens with a quick, unplanned detour: a personal task dashboard she built in Claude, synced to a Notion database, for her house manager Annika to track vendors and to-dos without needing Notion access herself. She then pivots into Apify, calling it "a secret connector that nobody knows about" inside Claude. The reason it matters: Instagram has no native Claude connector, and the standard Meta connector only surfaces paid-ad stats — it can't pull hashtags, carousels, comments, or search queries. Apify closes that gap, letting Claude scrape Instagram profiles, reels, comments, mentions, and tagged content directly.
Carter Jensen explains that Apify hosts roughly 49,000 scraping "actors," and the two walk through concrete use cases: a Nextdoor scraper Callan recommended to a struggling roofer client to surface leads mentioning "roof leak" or "need a roofer" by neighborhood, plus a Facebook Post Scraper and a Website Content Crawler for other data-pull needs. Setup takes four steps — create a free Apify account, copy an API key from Settings, install the Apify connector in Claude, and paste the key to authorize. Carter shares real cost data: scraping Callan's Instagram and her competitors' accounts runs about 27 cents per run against a $5 free monthly credit. In a live demo, they run the connector against ToxiFree's Instagram competitors, surfacing five winning content patterns (seasonal swap guides, news reaction takes, product demos as proof) and drafting 30 Instagram posts, three of them fully written out.
Key Points
- Apify is a hidden Claude connector most members never discover on their own.
- Instagram has no native Claude connector, but Apify scrapes it directly.
- Apify offers roughly 49,000 scraping actors for nearly any website.
- Nextdoor scraper example: find local roofing leads automatically every morning.
- ToxiFree demo scraped competitors, found 5 patterns, drafted 30 Instagram posts.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session segment, members should be able to:
- Identify why Instagram lacks a native Claude connector and where Apify fills the gap.
- Configure an Apify account, generate an API key, and authorize the Claude connector.
- Locate a specific Apify actor, such as the Facebook Post Scraper or Website Content Crawler, for a scraping need.
- Apply the Nextdoor scraper to surface local leads for a service business like roofing.
- Build a competitor content analysis with Apify to draft new Instagram post ideas.

Okay, we've got connectors, a few hot seat questions. And then, Carter, let's take a three minute break after some hot seat questions, and then we'll come. We'll go back into a little bit deeper on connectors with Apify, and then we'll close out. Love it.
Carter Jensen • 00:15
Yeah, Kel, let's actually introduce Apify so they can get signed up during the —
Callan Faulkner • 00:18
Let's do it. Okay.
Carter Jensen • 00:20
Okay.
Callan Faulkner • 00:21
Here we go. And then, guys, if you have questions, stop with them in the chat, please. No more. If I see one more, I'm gonna — take my cherry cola and just my healthy one. I don't know.
Carter Jensen • 00:33
Throw it across the room.
Callan Faulkner • 00:34
I'm not going to do anything, but just put them in the Q. Thank you so much. I love you.
Carter Jensen • 00:38
Our whole advisor team's in there. They've already answered 225 questions, because that's how we're gonna — and we want, I have the Q&A up right here. So if you know questions.
Callan Faulkner • 00:46
This is not a real Cherry Cola, this is an Olipop.
Carter Jensen • 00:49
I was going to say.
Callan Faulkner • 00:50
Cola. This is… 5 grams of sugar. Don't.
Carter Jensen • 00:54
I have Diet Coke hidden in my closet. I just haven't.
Callan Faulkner • 00:57
Yes. Well, kidding. Everyone's got their secret stuff. Okay. Let's do — let's do some superpower work. So, yeah, you guys know we do Notion. A cool thing that I just did with Notion Connector, let me just show you because I'm really proud of it.
We just bought a new house. We have all sorts of things going on. I have so many things happening with this house. It's insane. I built a notion database that houses all of our vendors for the house, that holds all of our tasks.
And this syncs with notion. So it's syncing right now. It's going to take a second.
But this is syncing real time. Our house manager, her name is Annika, so I give her the board, and what she can do now is she can just pull this dashboard up and she'll see all of her open tasks. She can edit the tasks, she can see all the vendors, their phone numbers, their emails. The back end of this is notion, and if she makes an edit to the task here, it immediately pushes that back into notion.
The key is I've given her — the notion, the notion dashboard, the notion database, she has access to. So, she owns that.
In… she owns… she's an owner in Notion. She won't just be able to see this dashboard just because I can see it. So that's… that's the kicker. I'm sad —
We'll come back to it when it's loading. But just an idea, like thinking outside the box of — I didn't want to share notion with Annika because she's new to notion. It's very complicated. I just wanted her to see a whole list of her tasks, list of all of the vendors, she can easily — I'm like, "Hey, can you set — call the gutter cleaners, boom, website, go." But the back end of this again is the notion database.
Cool.
Carter Jensen • 02:41
Cal, everyone likes the fact that Claude is roasting you. Straight word. It's late on the 4th of July, and you've been at this for hours!
Callan Faulkner • 02:49
That is not even true.
Oh, maybe it is. I don't know. Probably. Yeah, probably. Sorry. You know, hey, I'm human, okay? Was I building this? Absolutely. Sorry about that. How did I do this? Yeah, I came into Claude and I said, Claude.
I have this incredible notion… actually, I did not. I came into Claude, and I said, I have so much on my mind right now, I need to extract all of the to-do lists for my house, and then I want you to build a beautiful dashboard of all of the tasks that is super easy to navigate.
And then we just iterated back and forth. And I said, I want to build a dashboard I can send to Nicole, a dashboard that I can send to — even, I wanted a place where if I see a picture of like a garage or a closet that I love, I can just paste a photo in here, because I had like all these different Pinterest boards, but also pictures. And I want every time I upload something, it just sends it directly into a Notion database on the backside.
So, pretty cool.
Where does this live? It lives in Claude. It's Claude's dashboard, so I can just send this link… to… I can… I don't think I went to share artifact, and now I can just share and copy this link. Only people… that's weird.
It's not found, whatever. This is why I'm — we're still working on it, okay? We —
But only people that have access to my Claude Teams account can see this. That's the kicker. They have to have access to your Claude Teams account.
Okay.
Sorry, a little detour on the notion dashboard there, but it's really great. All right, so we've said — we've talked about Apify a lot. We are going to talk about this connector. Apify is a connector inside of Claude. It's kind of a secret connector that nobody knows about.
Carter Jensen • 04:35
Of the way we're doing this, Kel. So just like everyone hold on to their seats. It —
Callan Faulkner • 04:39
Just hold on, okay, guys, this is the things that no one's teaching, no one's talking about, I mean, no one's talking about any of this, let's be honest, but this is —
So when people say, "Oh, I went out on Instagram and I searched for all of the top posts and the top trends" —
Instagram does not have a connector to Claude. You can't… turn on the Instagram connector.
Now, there is a meta connector, like, you can… you can pull in, like, your ads, stats, and that…
It's amazing if you're running paid ad campaigns and you want to run numbers, but you can't pull from regular Meta Connector — hashtags, carousels, comments, search queries. And this Apify connector allows you to scrape Instagram.
So you can see here, what can you extract? Posts and carousels from profiles, reels, comments and replies, mentions, tagged photos, profiles, places, media. This is how we can look at all of our competitors. What's going live, what's going well. And you guys go ahead, take a break anytime you want. We are going to break in about four minutes. I'm just going to get through this. Okay.
Now, on Appify, there are… how many different connectors on here? Like, within Appify.
Carter Jensen • 05:57
Thousand.
Callan Faulkner • 05:57
40…
Carter Jensen • 05:58
4,000, 49,000 — said right on the top.
Callan Faulkner • 06:01
49,000 different scraping abilities.
Now, I was chatting with a roofer a few weeks ago, and he's really struggling for leads, and I said, "Oh my god, dude, it's so easy to get leads."
Why don't you just use the next door — scraper.
And why don't you scrape anyone that says their roof is leaking, or "I'm having a roof issue," or "I need a roofer."
You could throw in every single neighborhood that you serve, and have it constantly have a scheduled task, a skill that goes out, uses the Apify connector, and enables the next door scraper, and tells you any single time someone is mentioning roofer, roofing, "they have a roof link" — and text you with a list of leads every single morning that you can follow up to.
That's just one example.
Part of what is happening here — is you guys may not know. I think some people were like, "How do I scrape Facebook?" How about the Facebook post scraper?
That would be a good one.
That would work. "How do I crawl a website deeper and extract text content from it?" How about the website content crawler? You guys get the point. Part of it is there's so much opportunity here, you may not know what to do.
So, what you could do — is you could go to your marketing workspace, or your ops workspace.
Got a team.
Let's go to Ops and let's say —
"I'm sure there are some incredible ways I could be using Apify, A-P-I-F-Y. They have, like, 49,000 different connectors, or something like that. Can you do a quick peek at their website, which is…
Appify.com.
…and, from what you know about us, and tell me 5 insane ways I could be using the Appify connector in my own business."
Carter Jensen • 08:09
Kelly, you want to do this on your —
Callan Faulkner • 08:11
Thank you so much.
Carter Jensen • 08:13
Yep.
Callan Faulkner • 08:13
I mean, technically I wouldn't have to, because I'm not using the —
Carter Jensen • 08:16
That's true, but the — actually, Appify connector has an incredible search tool built into it. And so if you actually install it, that's going to give you the best connection around.
Callan Faulkner • 08:27
Got it. So let's make sure the connector is turned on.
Appify is on. Beautiful.
I'm doing Opus, is that okay? Or should —
Carter Jensen • 08:37
Fine.
Callan Faulkner • 08:39
Oh, boy.
It's pulling from my second brain. That —
Carter Jensen • 08:43
Who knows what's going to come.
Callan Faulkner • 08:46
Alright. We're gonna throw this in the chat. Well, most — some people don't have an Amplify — the Amplify connector turned on. Now what happens if you —
We'll go back to the notes.
Just for one moment, there are exact steps. Did you put steps in here on how to connect?
Carter Jensen • 08:59
Yeah.
Callan Faulkner • 09:00
Of course he did.
Of course you did.
How do you connect Apify?
Well…
How about we go down to the section called "How to Install Appify"? You guys have to get an Appify account.
Carter Jensen • 09:14
It's free. Don't worry.
Callan Faulkner • 09:15
Sorry, baby.
Settings, bottom left.
Hit API and Integrations.
Copy the API key, and then you go to Browse Connectors, Connectors, you choose Appify, find it on the list.
Click Install.
Paste the API key, hit authorize, and now we are ready to freakin' rock and roll.
Carter Jensen • 09:42
Okay, so… Elliot mentioned in the chat, you get $5 of credit every month. Let me just tell you the demos I'm about to show you, where we're scraping Callan's Instagrams and competitors' Instagrams — those cost me 27 cents per run. So you got some headroom.
Callan Faulkner • 09:57
Wow, 27 cents.
Carter Jensen • 09:59
Mmhm.
Callan Faulkner • 09:59
So good. So fun.
Carter Jensen • 10:01
You can look at that, Bill, Cal.
Callan Faulkner • 10:04
That feels fine.
That feels fun. So while this is running, this is an idea for Toxifree, is… she doesn't know what to be posting on Instagram. She knows that her competitors are doing an amazing job, she stares at her blank screen, so she posts nothing.
Well, what could she do?
She could go and study her competitors on… no, we didn't see competitors — her peers on Instagram that are already crushing non-toxic living, rank every single post, tell her the patterns that are working, and create a content map of what's working in her world.
Show you what Carter built here, using the Apify connector.
And it went out. It found the five patterns that win. So — seasonal swap guides, news reaction takes, product demos as proofs. Love it. All the findings. What's branch basics doing?
What is Girls Who Eat doing? What's Just Ingredients doing? What's crushing?
I mean, crap, just take 3 of these and just recreate them.
What posts should she make? And then it built 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9…
Carter Jensen • 11:12
30 of them.
Callan Faulkner • 11:13
Unbelievable. 30?
Wow. 30?
Carter Jensen • 11:16
The top three are drafted.
And this wasn't even done in the marketing workspace, guys, this was just done cold, so imagine running this in your marketing workspace.
Callan Faulkner • 11:23
Mmm.
Oh my god.
Do you guys see? Like, there is no excuse.
It has never been easier to build a business right now. It is so… I mean, you know what… you know what's the hardest part?
Is taking action.
On hard shit.
Sorry, I don't mean to swear. Taking action on hard stuff.
Every single day.
And being so committed to your goals that nothing can stand in between you and doing the things that you don't want to do. Who wants to post every day.
No! I don't! Let's…
So, I shot content for 2 hours this morning before I came here. Did I want to do it? No. Do I know that that is going to get us closer to continuing to shift the frequency of the planet and getting people to understand that AI is one of the greatest levers they can pull in their lifetime to get closer to their dreams?
Yes. I know I have to do it.
So this is it. This is… and I know you guys have so many ideas, and some of these can be a rabbit hole.
But some of it is just doing the really basic stuff and saying, "Okay, in committing to yourself. Okay, I'm going to set up this appify connector."
And, like, literally writing this out, "I'm going to get 3 real ideas, and before I leave this desk —
I am going to complete — these reels. I'm going to film them and complete them, and I will not end my day. I'm gonna text my partner: I will not end my day until 3 posts are built."
And I'm committing to that. Nothing's gonna stand in my way.
I know these are all amazing ideas. I just have to say that because I know it's like we could do this all day long, and sometimes it's more fun to build a market intelligence dashboard than it is to film the damn reel.
That's the reality. But for some of us —
We have to do — you have to do the work.
This is just amazing to tell us what to do, shortcut it.
A ton.
All right.
Carter Jensen • 13:19
Cal, do you want to give three minutes? And then I want to show how we actually scheduled this too. I do.
